Kelly Macdonald will take over as Union Ridge Elementary School principal starting July 1. She is currently the vice principal at Hockinson Middle School.

Macdonald has been in education for 17 years, starting out teaching kindergarten, first and third grades, and has a master’s degree in special education from Washington State University Vancouver.

“Her extensive experience, strong commitment to building relationships and advocacy efforts on behalf of all students, makes her ideally suited to this position,” Ridgefield Superintendent Nathan McCann said in a release from the district.

Tracey MacLachlan, the school’s current principal, is leaving the district to take a job as a planning principal for the new Columbia River Gorge Elementary School in the Washougal School District.
