The American Red Cross is inviting community members to get ready for disasters at its first Prepare Out Loud forum.

The agency’s Cascade Region office, which works in Vancouver, is hosting the event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 1 at the regional headquarters in Portland, 3131 N. Vancouver Ave.

The interactive presentation will include information on the science and history behind the Cascadia Subduction Zone, what to expect during an earthquake and how to behave following a disaster. The presentation will also chronicle ways to prepare for these events to ensure that residents and loved ones are safe.

Children are welcome at the event and the presentation will include a kid-friendly session.

Those looking to attend are asked to RSVP at www.redcross.org/PrepareOutLoud.
