Week 8 spring sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian spring sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending May 14.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

DAMON CASETTA-STUBBS, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN BASEBALL: Casetta-Stubbs pitched 12.1 innings with one earned run and 18 strikeouts and went 5 for 14 at the plate in the 1A district tournament.

FAITH GRISHAM, COLUMBIA RIVER TENNIS: Grisham, a freshman, beat teammate Lauren Skelly 6-1, 6-3 to claim the 3A district singles title.

JILVEN REFIL, UNION BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Refil won the 100 and 200 in the 4A district, both in 4A state-best times.

ERYKAH WEEMS, HUDSON’S BAY GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Weems won the 300 hurdles in a 2A state-best time and placed second in the 100 hurdles at the 2A sub-district meet.

REILLY WHITLOCK, UNION GOLF: Whitlock won her third consecutive district title on the first playoff hole vs. Camas’ Elise Filuk.
