A Camas teenager was injured when he crashed into a tree in east Vancouver Saturday night.

Police and medical personnel responded to the single-vehicle crash reported at about 11:20 p.m. near Southeast 31st Street and Southeast Cascade Park Drive, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a GMC Envoy wrapped around a tree, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said. She said it appeared that the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Camas, was removed from the vehicle by fire personnel and was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. His condition was not available.

The investigation into the crash is continuing once the driver is able to be interviewed, Kapp said.
