Talk about a mood swing. The month of May continues to surprise us. Take Friday afternoon with temperatures in the mid 80s, some 20 degrees above average, to Saturday afternoon temperatures that were 30 degrees cooler than on Friday.
It felt rather cool, I think, with temperatures running in the mid 50s. From air conditioning one day to maybe running a little heat in the house? Yep, spring weather in the great Northwest at its best.
Thunderstorms popped up Friday night, and lightning could be seen to the east and southeast. Not much in the rain bucket as of 4 p.m. Saturday — just some drizzle here and there. Heavier amounts fell in the central Willamette Valley and all along the Oregon Coast up to the Long Beach Peninsula. Amounts varied from a quarter-inch to more than one-half inch.
Here is what we are looking at this week: a chance of a shower today and continued cool. Monday and Tuesday, we have improving weather with highs reaching into the 70s on Tuesday. More showers and cool weather end the week, lasting probably into the weekend. So we enjoyed summer for the first portion of May, and now we enjoy “normal” weather as May should be.
