Voters’ pamphlet writers sought

The Clark County Auditor’s Office is looking for writers to fill out the opposing views sections in the Aug. 2 primary election voters’ pamphlet, namely for a set of proposals from local fire districts.

For the August election, the department has received a ballot proposition from Clark County Fire District 2 proposing a merger with Clark County Fire & Rescue; a proposition from Clark County Fire District 3 for a levy lift; and a proposal to continue a tax levy for emergency medical services from Clark County Fire District 6.

Committees have organized to write statements in favor of the proposals, according to the auditor’s office, but no one has come forward to argue against them. The auditor’s office could deliver the voters’ pamphlets without “for” or “against” statements, but said it first tries to enlist willing writers.

Any county resident who wants to write an opposing statement to one of the measures can contact Cathie Garber of the Clark County Elections Department at 360-397-2345 for more information. The deadline for statements is 4 p.m. Monday.
