The driver in a car crash that caused serious injuries Tuesday night near the west Vancouver waterfront faces charges in the incident, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Andrey V. Altman, 23, of Washougal was driving a silver Infiniti west at a high rate of speed on Southeast Columbia Way, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Altman lost control of the vehicle in the 100 block of Columbia Way in front of Joe’s Crab Shack just after 9 p.m. and struck a tree, Kapp said. One passenger was ejected, she said. According to an officer at the scene, three of the vehicle’s occupants had serious injuries and one occupant wasn’t as badly injured.

All four occupants of the vehicle were taken to an area hospital, Kapp said. The passengers were identified as three Vancouver residents: Vyacheslav Fistikan, 26, Albert Idigov, 20, and a 17-year-old girl. Their conditions in the hospital were not immediately available.

Kapp said that charges will be filed against Altman when he is released from the hospital. He faces two counts of vehicular assault, first-degree reckless driving and driving with a suspended or revoked license, Kapp said.

Detectives with the agency’s traffic unit are investigating the crash.
