Family Fun Night for Anderson Elementary families focuses on healthy eating

Northeast Hazel Dell — Several Anderson Elementary fifth-grade families enjoyed a Family Fun Night in April hosted by the school’s Family & Community Resource Center. Resource center coordinator Morgan Green, with the help of Lizzie Jesser, Food Smart families coordinator and the WSU Extension Food S($)ense Program team, created a family event featuring information and engaging hands-on activities emphasizing healthy eating, meal planning, and active play. One of the more popular displays highlighted the high levels of sugar contained in many popular beverages. Another display shared the practical, money-saving benefits associated with buying meal ingredients separately instead of pre-packaged foods.
