JAZZ FESTIVAL AWARDS
Clark College Jazz Ensemble students received top honors at the University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival last month, with colleges and universities from seven states participating. Eight Clark College Jazz Ensemble students received Special Citation for Outstanding Musicianship awards, recognized from the 8,000 festival participants. The award winners were: Mattias Tyni, on trumpet; Keith Cheek and Anna James, on tenor saxophone; James Powers and Jenny Baird, on trombone; Hayden Lilak, on bass; and Josh Gonzales and Sam Niborg, on drums.
PEACEHEALTH SOUTHWEST MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION — SERVICE AWARDS
Dr. Alden Roberts and Randall Grove were recently honored as the inaugural recipients of the Sister Andrea Nenzel Service Awards. Roberts is PeaceHealth Southwest’s chief medical officer and vice president of quality and patient safety, and Grove is an attorney at Landerholm Law; both have contributed significantly to the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Roberts helps the Foundation create relationships with physicians and patients, and serves as a resource for donors. Grove, an emeritus board member of Foundation, assists donors in the area of estate planning.
Sister Andrea Nenzel, for whom the awards are named, is the chair of the PeaceHealth Board of Directors and a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. Nenzel’s service for others during the past five decades includes directing an anti-poverty campaign in Washington, D.C., working with refugees in El Salvador, and serving as director of the Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association.
DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AWARDS
Caroline Melhusish, a community corrections specialist at the West Vancouver Community Justice Center, won two awards from the state Department of Corrections — an Innovation Team award and an Employee of the Year award.
