Vancouver — Whether you have four legs or two, there’s still time to register for the Humane Society for Southwest Washington’s 25th annual Walk/Run for the Animals happening Saturday in downtown Vancouver.
The race starts at 9 a.m. at Esther Short Park, 415 W. Sixth St., and there will be a party in the park afterwards, including a photo booth, agility course and obedience competition.
So far, the two teams that have raised the most money for the east Vancouver shelter are cat lovers. As of Wednesday morning, Cats Rule! and the Big Meowski had raised $12,900 and $12,600, respectively. Cats Rule! has been selling pet-themed items, such as buttons with photos of shelter cats and dogs, and scented soaps. The Big Meowski serves lunch once a week at the east Vancouver shelter for a donation.
