Police arrested a bank robbery suspect on Wednesday who is accused of striking an Umpqua Bank branch in Vancouver twice.
Detectives with the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit, along with the Scappoose (Ore.) Police Department, arrested Marx Wayne Conrood, 60, on suspicion of committing the two robberies, which took place Feb. 1 and March 16 at the bank, 10705 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., according to the Vancouver Police Department. He also faces charges for an attempted robbery April 22 at the same bank, police said.
Conrood was booked into the Columbia County Jail and was awaiting extradition to Clark County, police said.
A Clark County judge in 2008 sentenced Conrood to eight years in prison after he pleaded guilty to robbing a Washington Mutual Bank branch in the Minnehaha area in 2006, and for planning to rob two others.
