Washougal — Even historical museums need the occasional update, and more than 50 members of the Camas-Washougal Historical Society were able to see firsthand the improvements made to the Two Rivers Heritage Museum. This included updated flooring as well as refreshed and new exhibits featuring information on local veterans, the paper and woolen mills, schools, mining and Native Americans. The flooring improvements were made possible by a grant from the Beals Foundation, while the new displays were put together by volunteer curators. The North Clark County Museum also gave the Two Rivers museum a portable loom that is currently on display. Volunteer Karen Johnson demonstrated its use as she created a woven rug using selvage from the Pendleton Woolen Mill. “It is just wonderful to see the changes made,” said Belva Baz, CWHS member. “It is so nice and open and there is a lot more to see and read about. They did a great job.”
The Two Rivers Heritage Museum, 1 Durgan St., is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Call 360-835-8742 to schedule group tours.
