A pickup rolled into a drainage ditch in Orchards on Tuesday morning, and the driver was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Ryan Tanner said a driver in a white Dodge Ram drove off Northeast 117th Avenue near 71st Street, traveled over the sidewalk and into a swale, which was several feet deep. It happened around 10:30 a.m. near Lowe’s Home Improvement.

The pickup’s driver was hospitalized, Tanner said, and his truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Information as to whether any citations were issued was unavailable, and the extent of the driver’s injuries was unclear, but Tanner said it appeared that the injuries were relatively minor.
