Catch 22, a women’s dragon boat racing team from Vancouver, will race this week in the International Dragon Boat Federation Club World Championships in Adelaide, Australia.
Competing in the division for women 40-and-older, Catch 22 is scheduled to race Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The races will cover 2,000 meters on Friday, 500 meters on Saturday and a 200-meter sprint on Sunday,
The boat has trained all winter on Vancouver Lake after qualifying for there club world championships at the Pacific Dragon Boat Association Championships, which took place in August on Vancouver Lake.
A live webstream of the races can be found at here. Catch 22 raced 2,000 meters at 8:30 p.m. PDT on March 31. It is scheduled to race 500 meters on Friday at 7:55 p.m. PDT, 9:05 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. On Saturday, Catch 22’s 200-meter races are scheduled for 8 p.m. PDT, 9:05 p.m and 10:25 p.m.
Columbia River boys lacrosse team wins pair
The Columbia River boys lacrosse team opened league play with a pair of home wins, beating Richland 15-13 on Friday and beating Selah 13-4 on Saturday.
BJ Bisquera scored four goals and three assists in the Friday win over Richland.
No details were available from the Saturday match.
Camas beat visiting Selah 11-4 on Friday and fell to visiting Richland 14-7 on Saturday.
This week, Columbia River faces Union at 8 p.m. Thursday at Camas High School’s Cardon Field. Union, which was idle last week, plays a non league match on Tuesday at Aloha (Ore.).
Camas plays a non-league match on Saturday at Auburn Riverside.
Union opened its season the previous week, splitting a pair of 11-10 games. Union beat Sumner 11-10 in overtime on a goal from Isaiah Pratt on March 19 Pratt scored four goals in the win. One day earlier host Emerald Ridge rallied for an 11-10 win over Union.
Girls lacrosse — The Evergreen Lacrosse Club will host Tigard (Ore.) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at McKenzie Stadium, then travel Thursday to Auburn Riverside.
High school rugby update
Union’s No. 1 team beat a young Prairie team 55-5 on Saturday in a Rugby Oregon Varsity Premiership high school match at Laurin Middle School.
Also on Saturday, Battle Ground and Union No. 2 played to a 10-10 draw.
This Saturday, Union 2 plays the Portland Pumas at 9 a.m. at Lents Park in Southeast Portland, followed by Union 1 playing Lincoln. Also this weekend, Prairie visits Reynolds at 11 a.m. and Battle Ground plays Oregon City on the road at 3 p.m.
In the Club Championship Division, the Clark County Warriors were idle on March 26. The Warriors host the Beaverton Barbarians at 11 a.m. Saturday at Skyridge Middle School.
In girls high school rugby, Battle Ground will host North Clackamas at 1 p.m. Saturday at Laurin Middle School.
• Rugby clinic April 8 — A one-day spring break rugby clinic for ages 8 to 14 will be held April 8 in Battle Ground High School. The clinic runs 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and costs $35. To register or to learn more, visit RugbyOregon.com under upcoming events.
RACC registration open
Registration is open for the 33rd Ride Around Clark County, which takes place on May 7.
The annual kickoff to the cycling season, the ride has added a new 18-mile route this year. The other options are 34, 66 or 100 miles.
Registration costs $30 prior to April 25, with discounts for members of the Vancouver Bicycle Club or the Portland Wheelmen.
