Okay, as promised, let’s review some rainfall for February from your friends and neighbors: Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 11.71 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 5.90 inches; Bob Starr, Cougar, 16.83 inches; Gary Collins, Brush Prairie, 6.79 inches; Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, 12.30 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 4.37 inches; Pete Conrad, near Tukes Mountain, 6.02 inches; Merle Moore, two miles west of Yacolt, 10.44 inches; Dan Hein, Camas, 6.60 inches; Dave Campbell, one mile west of Heisson, 6.52 inches; Bill Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 9.44 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 4.19 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 5.48 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 4.90 inches; Murphy Dennis, Dawson Road near Clark County Rifles, 11.52 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 5.28 inches; and Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 4.09 inches. I measured 4.78 inches here in Salmon Creek. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 3.81 inches.

Boy, that sounds like a bunch of rain listed above, doesn’t it? It is. it was, however, about two or three inches less in most places compared to January. And here it is, another new month, and we are running above average –again!

Some weather observer comments: Jim Knoll was holding off cutting his grass but finally gave in on the leap day at the end of February. Pete Conrad is hoping the “lamb” arrives before the last day of the month. I’m thinking maybe not. Maybe a 70-degree day the first week of April?

How did you like all that sunshine Wednesday? Not so much, huh? Although it was somewhat dry for part of the day, there was just too much cloudiness streaming ahead of the next front. I also thought Saturday would be a sunny day but it appears it will be a repeat of Wednesday — dry most of day but lots of cloudiness ahead of yet another weather front. This translates into rain for later Saturday and showers and cooler conditions with snow in the mountains for Easter Sunday.
