The Clark County Food Bank depends on volunteers to help feed hungry Clark County residents. Food collectors, to drive or ride on weekday mornings in a 20-foot box truck to Clark County grocery stores; food sorters, to work weekdays in a refrigerated room; and Spanish speaking nutrition-education volunteers, for 2-hour classes or a series of classes, are especially needed. Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge will provide annual Plankhouse volunteer training, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 2.
Volunteers at the Plankhouse welcome groups of school children and visitors of all ages, and help them learn about local Native American culture. No experience is necessary; training is provided.

The Salmon Creek Watershed Council is looking for help planting willows at Pleasant Valley Park, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Maintenance work is needed after plants were eaten by resident beavers, and a December flood covered many plants.
The park is behind Pleasant Valley Middle School at 14320 N.E. 59th Ave., Vancouver. Parking is available at the school.

Washington State University — Cougs in the Community is looking for farm and garden volunteers, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Aho Family Farm, 21902 N.E. 189th St., Brush Prairie, to help move the North County Food Bank’s community garden.
Plant seedlings, dismantle and relocate a small shed, and haul raised bed materials and wooden frames. Bring gloves and dress appropriately to work in the dirt. Garden tools, pickups and flatbed trucks will be welcome.
Afterward, unwind with Cougs at Mill Creek Pub, 1710 S.W. Ninth Ave., Battle Ground.
