Registration open for Columbia Gorge ride on June 18

THE DALLES, Ore. — Registration is open for the 10th annual Gorge Ride on June 18 through the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.

Cyclists will ride from the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center on the west side of The Dalles along the Historic Columbia River Gorge Highway State Trail to the Sen. Mark O. Hatfield West trailhead east of Hood River, then back again.

The route is 38.5 miles and includes the vista at Rowena Crest, travel through the Mosier Twin Tunnels and rest stops at historic Mayerdale Estate. The course is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $40 for adults and $15 for youth.

The event is a moneymaker for the Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway. The group supports restoration and reconnection of the route on the Oregon side of the Gorge.
