Airport Green — They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and students at Hearthwood Elementary School learned how to make it a healthy one as well when they held a “Breakfast and Beyond” event March 16. The students were previously inspired to embark on a path toward healthier eating when endurance athlete Colin O’Brady came to Hearthwood to talk about his plan to complete the Explorers Grand Slam, which consists of reaching the summit of the tallest peak on each of the seven continents. He inspired the kids to eat healthy, be active and set goals. March 16 is O’Brady’s birthday, so the school decided to host “Breakfast and Beyond” that day. The students danced, learned how to make healthful snacks with Sara O’Leary from Whole Foods, were provided with healthy fruits for breakfast from Chris Schuster from Organically Grown Company, and listened as Colin’s fiance, Jenna Besaw, gave an update on his progress.
