Woodland High School students can receive financial help to pay for advanced courses for dual high school and college credit, thanks to a $10,000 Dual Credit Expansion Grant in Washington state.
Woodland students can earn up to 60 college credits through Advanced Placement classes and through Central Washington University and Lower Columbia College.
Currently, Woodland students pay $50 per college credit. The grant will reduce that amount by 30 to 50 percent, depending on their need.
The money should allow more students to participate in dual-credit classes, said Principal John Shoup. The grant covers the current semester only, but the district plans to apply for more grants.
