A Vancouver man with Down syndrome is seeking votes in a contest that would award him an adaptive bicycle. The parents of 23-year-old Joshua Wyre entered him in the Great Bike Giveaway in hopes of getting Joshua a tandem bicycle.

His mother, Crystal Wyre, said Joshua’s disability is pretty severe; he has trouble walking long distances and can’t live away from home.

With the tandem bike, his mom or dad could steer and help pedal, while Joshua gets to experience the freedom and fun of riding a bicycle. While a student at Evergreen High School, Joshua rode an adaptive tricycle.

For more information about the Great Bike Giveway and to vote, visit www.friendshipcircle.org/bikes/2016/02/joshua-w-3. People do not have to donate to vote.

The contest ends March 30, just five days after Joshua’s birthday.
