New turn signal coming to state Highway 502

The Columbian
Published: March 16, 2016, 6:33pm

State Highway 502 could see a new turn signal as early as Thursday, according to a release from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The traffic signal will be located at the Northeast 92nd Avenue intersection, and will allow for all vehicles to make U-turns.

The signal is part of an $88 million project to rebuild the highway to make it safer, which includes widening the highway to four lanes. To make U-turns, traffic heading west approaching 92nd will use a left turn pocket, and travelers approaching the intersection from the east will use a right turn pocket, according to the release.

To activate the signal, the WSDOT contractor crews need some dry weather to restripe the wider portion of 502 at the 92nd Avenue intersection.
