Foe of violence against women honored

The president of the National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation, Michelle Bart, was awarded the Pebble Rebel Award at the International Women’s Festival Pacific Northwest, which took place last weekend.

This is the first year of the festival and the Pebble Rebel Award that recognizes an empowering woman who’s creating a ripple effect through community service.

Eleven women were nominated for the award. Bart was honored for her efforts with NWCAVE. She advocated for missing and exploited children, particularly sex-trafficking victims.
