Decker, Porter sisters post big indoor results

Three local runners stood out during the first day of the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships.

The Seattle Pacific women’s distance medley relay team that included Mountain View High grad Lynelle Decker ran to an All-American fifth-place finish on Friday night at Pittsburg, Kansas.

Decker, Jahzelle Ambus, Chynna Phan, and Anna Patti posted a time of 11 minutes, 32.17 seconds.

Decker also qualified for Saturday’s 800-meter final. She posted the seventh-best preliminary time of 2:10.19.

Western State’s Georgia Porter and Saint Martin’s Shannon Porter, sisters and Hockinson High grads, placed fifth and 12th in the 5,000 meters.

Georgia Porter’s time was 16:18.39 for All-American status, and Shannon Porter’s time was a personal best and school record 16:55.49.

Both will compete in the 3,000 final today.
