The deceased man whose naked body was found inside a Chinese restaurant in Orchards on Wednesday has been identified as a Vancouver man.
Joseph G. Nugent, 54, died of blunt force injury to the pelvis, which was ruled an accident, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The medical examiner’s office said it was unknown if Nugent was intoxicated; it takes 8 weeks for toxicology results to come back from the statewide lab.
Medical examiner’s offices generally cannot release information with detail beyond the cause and manner of death.
Nugent’s body was found by an employee of Tender Green Chinese Kitchen, 12329 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., when she arrived at work at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and discovered the deceased man in the kitchen, Vancouver police said.
Police at the scene said that based on the circumstances the death were being investigated as a burglary wherein the suspect accessed the business through the roof.
Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said Friday whether it was a burglary is still under investigation, but that seems to be the case based on the information officers have so far.
Officers had no indication as to why the man was naked, she said.
