On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded $940,004 in grants that continue to support programs at nonprofits serving the homeless in Vancouver.
• Community Services Northwest received $52,054 for Family Housing Northwest.
• The Council for the Homeless got a combined $110,704 for planning and its Homeless Management Information System.
• Share received a combined $330,668 for housing programs Bridges to Housing, Bridging the Gap and Step Forward.
• Portland-based Impact NW got $158,523 for its Permanent Supportive Housing program in Clark County.
• Second Step Housing received $288,055 for permanent housing program Story Street II.
In total, $49 million was awarded to Washington state agencies through Continuum of Care grants. This initial granting round is reserved for the highest-priority projects. Later this spring, more grant money will be disbursed. In a news release, HUD said this is the most competitive granting environment since the Continuum of Care grant program started in 2010.
