It took less than a week for Camas Superintendent Mike Nerland to announce his new gig. He’s joining Educational Service District 112, the Vancouver-based agency that provides services to area school districts.
Nerland, who was in charge in Camas for the last 11 years, announced March 1 he would step down at the end of this school year. On Monday, ESD 112 announced that Nerland will become its assistant superintendent of teaching and learning beginning July 1.
“I very much look forward to working with Superintendent Tim Merlino, the leadership team and the dedicated staff working throughout Southwest Washington to advance ESD 112’s mission of equalizing educational opportunities for learning communities through innovative partnerships, responsive leadership and exceptional programs,” Nerland said in statement from District 112.
Nerland is taking over for Barbara Lomas, who will retire at the end of this school year.
