A 10-year-old boy playing in the street in a Five Corners neighborhood was taken to a hospital Monday after he was struck by a vehicle.

Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger said the boy was transported with non-life threatening injuries.

He said the boy was out with other children playing in the street in a suburban neighborhood area, on the 8400 block of Northeast 84th Street in Five Corners, at around 5 p.m. A box van had parked at a corner, obscuring the view of a driver going right around the turn.

Rothenberger said the boy popped out from behind the box van, and the driver hit him.

There was no evidence of impairment and the man was driving at an appropriate speed, Rothenberger said.
