Aaron Chidester and his wife were the first family to buy a home in Clark County through Proud Ground’s affordable homeownership program, which lowers the cost of the home through the Community Land Trust model of permanent affordability. Now, Chidester is giving back by becoming a community organizer for the Portland-based nonprofit.
He recently signed on to serve as Proud Ground’s volunteer intern housing organizer. His primary role is to advocate for affordable housing and affordable homeownership in Clark County, and expand the nonprofit’s reach.
“They need more funding sources and more local buy-in,” he said.
Proud Ground has served Portland and its Oregon suburbs for years, but just expanded to Clark County last year. Chidester bought his house in April.
