Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

Boomerang is looking for retail volunteers in the coffee house and re-commerce store, to greet and assist customers and stock inventory.

Council for the Homeless is looking for volunteers to connect clients to community resources. People with experience in social work are also needed to assess clients for resource eligibility.

Empower Up seeks help with computer repair, customer service, deconstruction and E-commerce.

Human Services Council seeks help with researching, writing and submitting grant applications on behalf of the Volunteer Center and its programs.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is looking for volunteers; 49 positions throughout the hospital are available.

Open House Ministries seeks mechanically inclined volunteers to repair bicycles at its Wheels and Deals bike shop. Computer technicians, website designers, and thrift store/coffee shop volunteers are also needed.

The Fort Vancouver National Trust hopes to have 300 volunteers for Independence Day at Fort Vancouver on July 4. Individuals, service organizations, corporate groups and all others are encouraged to volunteer to sell and collect tickets, work at information booths, serve water at a water wagon, be a parking lot attendant or work in the adult beverage pavilion. Volunteers receive free admission, a parking pass, volunteer T-shirt and reusable water bottle. Shifts are a few hours long and there is a short training prior to the event. The Alzheimer’s Association is looking for people to facilitate family caregiver support groups.

Volunteers receive training, ongoing support, resources, and continuing education opportunities. A commitment of one year is requested.

Working or retired social workers, nurses and other healthcare professionals, educators, clergy, counselors, and former family caregivers are often well-qualified to be support group facilitators.
