Published: June 22, 2016, 8:15pm

Ridgefield – Contemporary masks inspired by native cultures of the Columbia River will be on display at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge next month.

From 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, artists Lillian Pitt and Bill Rutherford will have their art on display and give talks on how local Native American cultures influenced their work.

In addition to the artwork and talks, there will be plankhouse tours and activities for children.

Refuge naturalists will offer a ethnobotany hike that will examine the relationship the Cathlapotle people had with the landscape they inhabited, including the relationship between culture and environment. Hikers should be prepared for a 1-mile walk on moderately uneven terrain. The hiking group will meet at the plankhouse at 2:30 p.m.

Admission to the refuge is $3 per vehicle.
