Vancouver – For the second year in a row, the Clark County Auditor’s Office has received a top award from the Association of Local Government Auditors.
The office received the Knighton Award for its performance audit finding the Clark County Sheriff’s Office needed to improve its handling of high-risk equipment and supplies, including firearms and practice ammunition.
Clark County’s audit received the Exemplary Award, the top spot in its size category. Judges said the “recommendations when implemented will not only have a cost savings, but will increase efficiency and enhance accountability.”
Clark County received the same award last year for its audit of the fee waiver program, which found the county’s policy of waiving fees for nonresidential development in unincorporated Clark County did not provide a significant increase in jobs.
