A Battle Ground teen will face charges after she caused a crash, fled the scene and crashed again, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl whose name was not released, was driving a white 2002 Subaru Legacy north on state Highway 503 at about 11 p.m. Monday, according to the State Patrol.

She struck the back of a 1997 Saturn SL1 about a mile north of Battle Ground, causing the Saturn to spin out and come to rest on the northbound shoulder, troopers reported.

The girl then continued driving before she lost control about a half a mile down the road and struck a tree, troopers said.

The girl and the driver of the Saturn, 23-year-old Jordan Hamilton of Battle Ground, were both taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Hamilton was treated and released. The condition of the girl was not available.

The State Patrol said in a memo that the 17-year-old driver will face a charge of vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run. The memo said speed caused the crash.
