Two volleyball teams from Clark County will participate next week in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship at Indianapolis.
The Aardwolf Pyroclastic 13-year-olds and the Excel NW Rox 12-year-olds will represent the Columbia Empire Volleyball Association at the tournament.
This is the first time the CEVA has sent a team of 13-year-olds to the nationals, according to Joe Boken, Aardwolf Volleyball Club founder. The team played in the CEVA 14-year-old division and finished the Power League season ranked No. 79 among 137 teams. In the CEVA regionals, the Pyroclastic was the fifth highest finishing team of 13-year-olds and ranked highest among teams willing to travel to nationals.
The Pyroclastic are a first-year team. This is the first time Aardwolf Volleyball Club has fielded a team of 13-year-olds. All of the players are from Clark County.
