Happy Father’s Day! I mentioned here a few days ago about the pesky upper-level low-pressure system that was going to spin and wobble out of here by the weekend. Well, it has been doing that but keeps rotating back over us. Hence the heavy showers and hail on Saturday.
These types of upper lows combined with a complex upper air flow bring nightmares to weather forecasters. My forecast today is based on one computer model that indicates the low will rotate north of our area the next few days.
So, a mostly sunny day today through Wednesday with highs in the 75- to 80-degree range, maybe a few degrees higher if the low exits the area. If not, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more showers drift our way. Those 90-degree days you may have seen on extended outlooks on TV, I think, have vanished. Fine with me — anytime we can manage 75- to 80-degree days, that is a bonus.
Getting back to Saturday’s weather: Several heavy showers roared through Clark County, with a thunderstorm that dropped hail from Salmon Creek to Brush Prairie and Battle Ground just after noon. The hail was so intense that Debi Vonallmen-Smokey posted a photo on Facebook of her deck that was covered white with ice pellets.
