A Vancouver man died after police say he jumped off the Interstate 205 Bridge on Wednesday night.
Troopers with the Washington State Patrol stopped on the bridge to offer assistance for what they believed was a vehicle issue at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said.
Sean Meyers, 50, saw the trooper and ran away, leaving his vehicle behind, Simpson said. He then sat on the edge of the bridge and rolled off backwards into the river, Simpson said.
Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office river patrol deputies responded and recovered Meyers’ body.
