La Center — Painting Perfection owner Jesse Murray received the John McKibbin Legacy Scholarship, which will give him of $1,000 to put toward his Leadership Clark County tuition.

The scholarship is given out by the Southwest Washington Contractor’s Association Foundation and was created to honor McKibbin’s investment in the local community.

McKibbin, a former Clark County commissioner and Washington state senator, died in March when his plane crashed into the Columbia River near Astoria, Ore. “We felt it was important not only to honor John, but to invest in the future leaders of Clark County in his remembrance,” Mike Nieto, foundation president, said in a release from the organization.
