WASHOUGAL — St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Washougal is hosting a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. tonight to recognize and remember the victims who died in an early Sunday morning shooting at an Orlando, Fla. nightclub.

The vigil will be held in the sanctuary at the church, 2350 Main St.

“We will join in solidarity with Orlando and all of the LGBTQ community who suffer because of this broken world’s hatred and violence. All are welcome to join us in this time of grief and hope for a different kind of future,” the Rev. Jessie Smith said in an email.

Smith said that church needed to respond to the tragedy in some way.

The massacre that happened during Latin Night at Pulse, a gay nightclub, left 49 victims dead, in addition to the gunman, and 53 wounded.
