The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction will host a forum with an overview of the Every Student Succeeds Act from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Educational Service District 112, 2500 N.E. 65th Ave. No registration is required. For questions about the forum, contact Jami.Peterson@k12.wa.us

Gil Mendoza, deputy superintendent of K-12 education, and Gayle Pauley, assistant superintendent of special programs and federal accountability, will lead the forum. The discussion will include how the state will implement ESSA.

This is one of seven forums across the state. Each forum will cover opportunities and challenges that lie ahead; how ESSA is similar to and different from the No Child Left Behind Act, which it replaces; and an open discussion for the community to provide feedback.

Signed into law in 2015, ESSA reauthorizes the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the nation’s national education law and commitment to equal opportunity for all students.
