RIDGEFIELD — A culvert carrying Gee Creek under Carty Road, just east of Northwest Ecklund Road, will be replaced this month.

The project includes repaving more than two miles of road south of Ridgefield and installing or upgrading guardrails.

Carty Road, from Northwest Hillhurst Road east to Northeast 10th Avenue, will be open only to residents and businesses from mid-June through September.

A 1,200-foot section of road will be closed to all vehicles during the culvert’s replacement. Detour signs will be posted.

The current culvert has collapsed in several places and portions of the embankment have slid toward the creek.

The $1.59 million project is being completed by Thompson Bros. Excavating, a Vancouver-based company. Federal and state grants are covering most of costs.
