Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

Bloodworks Northwest is in need of couriers to transport blood and supplies between local blood drives and the Vancouver Blood Center.

City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation seeks front desk assistance with the Firstenburg Community Center’s 50 & Better program. Volunteers provide information on programs and services, and provide clerical help.

City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center volunteers are needed to weed, plant and help make the garden presentable to visitors.

Hands of Favor offers free haircuts and salon services to people in need; barbers and stylists are always needed.

Mount St. Helens Institute seeks volunteers to enter data on the computer and to help with general office tasks.

NatureScaping of Southwest Washington has garden work parties on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Volunteers are needed to weed, rake, prune, plant and shovel, as their schedules and physical abilities allow.

North County Community Food Bank seeks volunteers to stock pantry and warehouse shelves, sort and inspect food donations, prepare food boxes, unload deliveries, shred documents and help with special projects.

The Clark County Food Bank depends on volunteers to help feed hungry Clark County residents. The greatest needs currently are for:

• Food collectors, to drive or ride on weekday mornings in a 20-foot box truck to Clark County grocery stores;

• Food sorters, to work weekdays in a refrigerated room;

• Receptionists, for 4-hour shifts.
