Kevanna Park — Pierre Dubois, an Army engineer with 19 years of service and two deployments to Iraq, decided to go on a hike on Memorial Day. Dubois, a Vancouver resident, hiked up the Cape Horn Trail for his first ever American Flag Hike.

In an email, he wrote he was “hiking for those who can’t hike anymore” and he plans on doing another hike next Memorial Day in hopes it becomes a yearly tradition.

Next year, he thinks, he might try hiking Dog Mountain, since it’s such a popular spot.
