A fire late Monday night destroyed an unoccupied trailer at Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway.

Crews from Clark County Fire District 10 responded to the blaze, reported at about 11:30 p.m. after a neighbor woke up to the sound of the fire, Fire Chief Sam Arola said.

When firefighters arrived, they found that a 35-foot 1956 Holiday Rambler Imperial trailer and a nearby shelter containing a fiberglass boat were heavily involved in flames, fire officials said. The trailer had pretty much burned to the ground and the fire had spread to some nearby grass, Arola said.

Firefighters quickly put out the blaze and stopped the brush fire from spreading.

No one was in the trailer at the time of the blaze, and no injuries were reported, Arola said.

Nine personnel, including two engines and two tenders, assisted at the scene.

Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said the trailer was a total loss and he estimates that the damage from the trailer and its contents was about $6,000. He said the cause of the blaze remains undetermined.
