Two adults were displaced after fire heavily damaged the basement of a Camas house early Saturday morning.

Crews from Camas-Washougal Fire Department were called to the house fire, 1540 S.W. Seventh Circle, reported at about 1 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to see heavy smoke coming from the first floor and walked around the house to find fire in the basement, Battalion Chief Mark Ervin said.

Crews doused the blaze, bringing the fire under control in about 20 minutes, Ervin said. They stayed for another two hours doing overhaul, he said, which included pulling extensive ceiling from the basement.

Ervin said two adults who lived at the house were displaced by the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
