Columbia Gorge environmental advocates, including some from Clark County, have scheduled a noon protest rally today in Hood River, Ore., to call for an end to oil trains.
It will be at Overlook Memorial Park, Second Street and State Street.
A news release was issued late Friday night by representatives of three groups — Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network and Columbia Riverkeeper.
Those expected to participate include tribal representatives, faith leaders, local elected leaders and community members from the Columbia River Gorge, Portland, and Vancouver, organizers said.
The event will be followed by a march through downtown Hood River to the Hood River Waterfront Park, 400 N. Portway Ave.
There also will be a sign-painting event at 10:30 a.m. at the Friends of the Columbia Gorge Office, 205 Oak St., No. 17, in Hood River.
