Vancouver — The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is bringing its big canoes to the river this summer, and the public is invited to come along.

Throughout the summer, the Estuary Partnership will lead guided canoe trips along the lower Columbia River and its tributaries in Washington and Oregon. Paddlers will be able to see riparian wildlife and learn from the Estuary Partnership’s environmental educators, who lead the group outings. The group outings will take place in a 29-foot, 14-person canoes. Evening full moon paddles, birding paddles and picnic paddles are also offered.

Experience is not necessary. Trips are family-friendly for everyone over 5. The Partnership provides paddles and life jackets in all sizes. The community paddles are free, but donations are gladly accepted.

Reservations are required. Online registration opens six weeks before each paddle at 7 a.m. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

To see a schedule of trips and to register visit www.estuarypartnership.org/get-involved/canoe-paddles.

The Columbia River paddles are supported partially by the city of Vancouver, Clark County, Port of Vancouver and REI.
