At least one person was badly hurt in an end-over-end vehicle rollover Thursday afternoon at the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to a single-vehicle crash on the southern portion of the refuge, on the car tour route.

Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy said they arrived to find a car had gone off the dike road. He said the car landed on its front end first, then flipped and landed on its trunk before stopping on its wheels.

“So it was a very violent wreck,” he said.

One of the three occupants was able to climb out and went to get help. Two people were in the car when firefighters arrived, and one needed to be extricated.

One occupant was taken by ambulance with what Dawdy described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Dawdy said around 5 p.m. that medics were still evaluating the other two occupants.

The Ridgefield Police Department was investigating the crash.
