The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office was reaccredited this week by the National Association of Medical Examiners, the local agency announced Wednesday.
This is the sixth year that the agency has achieved the accreditation, which means that its functions are done in a professional, accurate and timely manner. Those functions include autopsy and examination procedures, record keeping, investigations and laboratory work.
The local medical examiner’s office said that the designation means that residents in Clark County as well as those in Skamania and Klickitat, with which the agency contracts, are receiving the highest quality service.
During the 2010 accreditation process, when the agency was first accredited, the medical examiner’s office met more than 300 standards.
The review and inspection process is based on a 31-page checklist regarding every aspect of the office’s operations.
