The upper-level low we discussed Sunday was indeed with us Monday, but despite plenty of clouds, there were not enough raindrops to measure as of 4 p.m. Hopefully, today the low decides to stop spinning around and advances to the east. That is what the forecast is based on. So by Wednesday, we will see partial clearing skies and the temperature creeping upward.
Highs will still be below normal even as high pressure builds inland Thursday and Friday. We may get up to the average for this time of the year, about 82 degrees. Still, no big heat wave in the offing.
You may have noticed Sunday night into early Monday morning, it was quite muggy, even most of the day. The early-morning low Monday was a balmy 62 degrees, the warmest since June 5. Humidity was running in the 50- to 75-percent range.
Last year on this date, we were sweltering with full sunshine and heat — on July 19, we had a high of 97 degrees. We only dropped to 62 degrees for an overnight low, the same as Monday. No thanks. I’ll take the 70s any day.
