VANCOUVER — Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center in Vancouver this week won a national award from the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for “improving medical outcomes for stroke patients,” according to a hospital release.
The “Stroke Gold Plus” award, given Wednesday, goes to hospitals meeting stroke recovery goals, which Legacy Salmon Creek said it met 97 percent of the time.
“One of the goals is to get stroke patients from the door to the necessary treatment within 60 minutes of arrival, thus reducing the effects of stroke and lessening the chance of permanent disability,” reads the release. “At Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center stroke patients who come into the Emergency Department receive the treatment within 54 minutes.”
