Night lane closures set for I-5 Bridge

Vancouver – Maintenance and inspection of the Interstate 5 Bridge will force several night lane closures for both spans from Monday to July 23. The schedule is:

July 18-19: The right and center lanes of the northbound span will be closed from 11 p.m. July 18, to 6 a.m. July 19 for bridge inspection and repairs.

The Jantzen Beach on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 will also close during those hours. Traffic will be directed south on I-5 to Marine Drive and back to the northbound freeway.

During this work, the sidewalk on the northbound span will be closed from 10 p.m. July 18 to 6 a.m. July 19, but the sidewalk on the southbound span will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians. Detour signs will direct travelers to the open sidewalk.

July 19-20: The left and center lanes of the northbound span will be closed 11 p.m. July 19 to 6 a.m. July 20 for bridge inspection and repairs. During this work, the sidewalk on the northbound span will be closed from 10 p.m. July 19 to 6 a.m. July 20, but the sidewalk on the southbound span will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians. Detour signs will direct travelers to the open sidewalk.

July 20-July 21: The southbound right and center lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. July 21 for inspection and electrical work. During that period, state Highway 14 and Washington Street on-ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed. Traffic will be routed to eastbound Highway 14 to southbound Interstate 205 into Portland or northbound I-205 to Mill Plain Boulevard back to southbound I-5. The sidewalk on the southbound span will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. July 21, but the sidewalk on the northbound span will remain open to cyclists and pedestirans. Detour signs will direct travelers to the open sidewalk.

July 21-22: The southbound left and center lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. July 21 to 5 a.m. July 22 for inspection and repairs.

The southbound span’s sidewalk will be closed from 9 p.m. July 21 to 6 a.m. July 22, but the sidewalk on the northbound span will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians. Detour signs will direct travelers to the open sidewalk.

July 22-23: The southbound left and center lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. July 22 to 5 a.m. July 23 for inspection and repairs.

The Highway 14 and Washington Street on-ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed, as well. Traffic will be directed to eastbound Highway 14 to southbound I-205 into Portland or northbound I-205 to Mill Plain Boulevard back to southbound I-5. The sidewalk on the southbound span will be closed from 9 p.m. July 22 to 6 a.m. July 23, but the sidewalk on the northbound span will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians. Detour signs will be in place.
